In a series of joint efforts between several LGBT organizations, SECTUR and Mexico Tourism Board, a Certification Program has been created to encourage all companies that support the LGBT collective, mainly in the Tourism sector, and guarantee the fair and respectful treatment to all the people who belong to this community, and likewise promote tourism throughout the length and breadth of the entire Mexican Republic.

This program seeks to ensure:
• The right to non-discrimination.
• Non-discrimination towards trade and LGBTTTI travelers.
• Support the fight against Homophobia, Transphobia and Lesbophobia.
• The social inclusion of LGBT people.

This program, which includes a distinctive symbol, advising and certification by Talento Consultores, SECTUR and the Mexico Tourism Board, with a validity of 2 years, already operates in destinations of the United States and Canada, and was initially created in Mexico City.

Currently the program has developed different products in Mexico mainly in cities and states such as Puerto Vallarta, Morelos, Acapulco, Guerrero, Oaxaca, Mexico City, Puebla, Veracruz, Chihuahua, Riviera Maya, Guadalajara, Tequila and Tlaquepaque.

Different products have been developed, such as JaliscoFriendly.com, LGBT Guide Mexico City, Inclusive Morelos Guide, LiveOpenTravel.mx for destination Muxhé in Oaxaca, among others.

Currently, other countries such as Argentina and Brazil are already working with it, given the importance of this region for the LGBT community, whose main gay destinations in Latin America are:

• Buenos Aires
• Rio de Janeiro
• Mexico City
• Cancun
• Puerto Vallarta
• Guadalajara
• Sao Paulo
• Florianopolis
• Montevideo
• Curaçao

This certification, in addition to promoting tourist destinations, works together with them to grant certification to different companies and businesses, such as hotels, restaurants, bars, shops, etc, and thus ensure that people of the LGBTTTI collective feel welcome and comfortable in these places. Similarly, it work together with magazines, travel agencies, tourist blogs, websites and social networks, to continue promoting the benefits of this program, and even have created some local tourism markets to promote companies and products that support the LGBT collective. It's important to clarify that this certification is for Mexican destinations and tourism suppliers within these destinations of Mexico.
