PlanetRomeo had released a extensive survey of the happiest countries in the world to be gay. They surveyed 115,000 gay men and collaborated with the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz (JGUM), Germany who designed a qualified scientific questionnaire and executed the survey.
Here are some highlights:
There are 7 billion people on the planet and assuming that 5% of them are LGBT, then there are about 350 million LGBT people in the world. That’s more than the entire population of the United States.
They combined 3 main topics to create one worldwide rank on gay happiness.
Public Opinion How do gay men feel about society’s view on homosexuality?
Public Behavior How do gay men experience the way they are treated by other people?
Overall Life Satisfaction How satisfied are gay men with their lives and do they accept themselves?
Mexico ranks #32 of #127 countries..Not too bad..We are behind countries like Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Canada, and the US, but better than Colombia, Brazil, Italy and Venezuela. Of the 3 main questions, the Mexican respondents rated the overall life satisfaction question the highest at 71 of 100 (How satisfied are gay men with their lives and do they accept themselves?) Not surprising as Mexicans generally are more satisfied and content with their lives than wealthier nations. They rated Mexico the lowest on public opinion, where gay men rate how society views homosexuality (45)
What country is surprisingly rated higher than Mexico on this list? Cuba ranked 29. Surprised..find out why.
