The organization ''Jalisco is one for the children '' submitted to the state administrative office of Jalisco a petition requesting the civil code of Jalisco not be changed to allow gay marriage. This petition was signed by 20 696 signatures of citizens of Jalisco and others.
Article 260 of the Civil Code of Jalisco states that marriage is the union between a man and a woman and the Supreme Court wants to change the concept of the union of two people. Francisco Montoya, of the organization said the group respects the gay community and explained there already exists the Law on Free coexistence for the LGBT community, but marriage must always been between a man and a woman.
Last month the Mexican Supreme Court ruled that this law was unconstitutional. In Puerto Vallarta an activist group from Guadalajara has organized a collective petition to call for marriage equality on August 7, 2015. See that event here
